It's easy!
Loughborough is at the heart of England in the northern part of Leicestershire. Being centrally located, it is well served by road, rail and air.
Main line road and rail networks link Loughborough directly with the rest of the country and the town itself is served by excellent bus services.
Loughborough University is less than 2 miles away from junction 23 of the M1motorway. London is only one hour and a half away by train, Birmingham one hour and Manchester and Leeds two hours. There are regular scheduled flights from UK, European and international destinations to East Midlands Airport, only 7 miles away.
Loughborough's motorway link is the M1; the campus is just two miles from Junction 23.
Get out of M1 at junction 23 and follow the signs to Loughborough. There are two entrances to campus. Do not take the first one as you come from the M1. Go on for 200-300m and you will find another entrance clearly signposted. This is the main entrance on Epinal Way, where you can see the swimming pool and the football pitches. The University is clearly signposted on all the other main approach roads to Loughborough.
Parking on campus is restricted.
Visitors are asked to use the main entrance on Epinal Way. Security will advise you where to park and issue you with a temporary parking permit and an exit card for the barriers when you leave. Please ask for the nearest car park to the Schofield Building.
University and public car parks are marked on the campus map. (click here)
Regular Intercity services operate between Loughborough and other main line towns - including over 40 Midland Mainline services daily to and from London St Pancras 90 minutes away (every 30 minutes).
From the railway station: A regular bus service operates every ten minutes during term time between Loughborough's railway station and the campus (the journey takes approximately ten minutes).
Taxis are normally available from the station and the journey should cost around £5 - £6.
University Shuttle bus service
Kinchbus Number 7 (a yellow bus, impossible to miss!) departs from Loughborough Railway station and brings you straight to campus.
Alighting points on the campus include:
- Students' Union
- Schofield Building
- Pilkington Library
- Wolfson School
- Holywell Park
Schofield Building is the second stop once the bus crosses the University barriers. If the driver does not know about the Schofield Building, ask him/her to stop in the following stop to the Students’ Union.
Out of term time, this service runs every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime until 5.45 pm. A Monday to Friday evening service operates every 30 minutes until 8.40 pm during term times only. Sunday service runs from 12 noon until 7.20 pm.

Taxis from the airport to the University should be in the region of £15.
London Luton is the second best choice for airports, as it is directly connected to Loughborough by train. On arrival, get the free shuttle bus to Luton Airport Parkway Station to connect with one of the several Midland Mainline Services to Loughborough (every 30 minutes approximately, journey time 80 minutes).
Birmingham Airport is the third choice. Once you have arrived, walk to the train station, which is next to the airport terminal, and take a train to Loughborough. You will have to change once or twice (either at Derby or at Birmingham New Street and Leicester).
You can find more information on the University Website (click here).
The workshop will take place at the Department of Politics, International Relations and European Studies, which is situated in the Schofield Building, very close to the main entrance and the Students Union.
