We are pleased to announce that our 2017 annual conference will take place in Molde (Norway) on 29 and 30 June 2017. This will be the first time our flagship event takes place in northern Europe, and the first time it is hosted in Norway and Scandinaviapain. The local organisers will be Molde University College, under the coordination of Oskar Solenes, who will chair the organising committee, Christos Anagnostopoulos, and Birnir Egilsson. The conference will take place under our usual two-day format, starting in the morning of the 29th and finishing in the afternoon of the 30th. The organisers are already working hard to put together an attractive academic and social program that might feature (if the fixture list is kind to us) a game of the local team, FC Molde. The organisers are also working very hard to be able to offer very attractive packages of registration and accomodation for the conference. Information will be made public in due course.
Professor Richard Parrish, honorary chair of Sport&EU commented on the selection of Molde to host the 2017 conference: “I’m really thrilled that Sport&EU will being ‘going north’ in June 2017. Molde University College in Norway is very well known for its sports provision and the local organisers have put together an outstanding and affordable package for our members. The decision to visit Norway reaffirms our commitment to take Sport&EU to new destinations, both within and outside the EU. Our 12th annual conference in Molde promises to be very memorable indeed. I look forward to seeing you there”. Oskar Solenes, the chair of the local organising committee looks forward to meeting Sport & EU delegates: “We are really happy to have the opportunity to organise the first Sport&EU conference in Norway. Molde is a beautiful city in the fiords and we are sure delegates will find it attractive. We have really good facilities in a compact environment, which will make attending the conference very easy. We are honoured to be given the opportunity and I really hope to see all of you in Molde next summer”.
A call for papers for the conference will be distributed very soon. We would encourage members of the association to pencil in the dates of the conference already, to ensure they have no clashes come next summer. We look forward to seeing many of you in Molde in 2017.
